Ashley Grant serves as the Tribal Councilor for District 5 of the Cherokee Nation, representing communities across North Tulsa, Turley, Sperry, Owasso, and Collinsville.
Born in Beaumont, Texas, Ashley moved to Park Hill, Oklahoma at the age of three, where she was raised. She attended Keys Elementary and graduated from Tahlequah High School in 2000. During her school years, she was actively involved in basketball, softball, and various clubs and organizations, while also beginning her college coursework through concurrent enrollment at Northeastern State University.
Ashley earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Northeastern State University in 2006. While in college, she worked her way up from cashier to pharmacy technician at Reasor’s, gaining early experience in healthcare. After graduation, she served as Technical Manager over the Quality Control Department at Dal-Tile in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Driven by a passion for healthcare and service, Ashley returned to school and earned a second bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2013, supported by the highly competitive Indian Health Service Scholarship. She began her clinical career as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at W.W. Hastings Indian Hospital, where she served for five years while also earning her Master of Science in Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University.
Following completion of her master’s degree, Ashley was appointed Director of Laboratory Services for the Cherokee Nation Health System, where she oversaw laboratory operations across multiple facilities. She served in this role during the COVID-19 pandemic, helping lead laboratory response efforts, expand testing capabilities, and ensure continuity of critical diagnostic services across the health system.
In 2022, Ashley transitioned into healthcare technology, joining Oracle Health (formerly Cerner), where she contributed her expertise in clinical systems and laboratory informatics. She continued her academic journey and earned her Doctor of Healthcare Administration from Oklahoma State University in 2024.
Ashley is a graduate of Leadership Tahlequah Class XIX and is a current participant in Leadership Tulsa New Voices Class XVII. She has also demonstrated a longstanding commitment to community service through her involvement in Beta Sigma Phi, where she served in multiple leadership roles.
With a career spanning healthcare, leadership, and public service, Ashley brings a deep commitment to improving access, strengthening communities, and advancing opportunities for Cherokee citizens. Ashley lives in Tulsa and enjoys staying active in her community and spending time with her dog, Archie.
